I buy a TON of syrup. My husband makes a giant breakfast on the weekends and I make a big breakfast a few times a week so we go through a lot of syrup, before I know it we are completely out. I was excited to see this challenge on Money Saving Mom and decided to try this.
I am soooo happy I did. My husband said he isn’t sure if the syrup made the buttermilk pancakes so delicious or if the buttermilk pancakes made the syrup so delicious and Lainie said, “The syrup wasn’t good, it was great!”
1 cup water
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup corn syrup, if desired (helps to thicken)
1 teaspoon maple flavoring extract
Heat water to boiling, add sugars until dissolved, cook at medium boil for 5 minutes. Stir in corn syrup and maple flavoring. Store in refrigerator.
